Each character is unique and has unique and different strengths and weaknesses. There are different objects on the track that can be collected and used to fly or to unlock other special abilities. You can use speed to overtake an opponent, use poles to increase your speed or start flying, and use special abilities that some characters have. You can have a blast learning how to control the hoverboards and start exploring their different abilities.

You will get access to the second part of the game and be able to compete on more tracks once you complete the Heroes Story that focuses on Sonic and his friends. "Sonic Riders" pits two teams against each other: Team Sonic and the Babylon Rogues. There is a story line that has some fun animation, and there is also an epilogue. There is more to this game than winning races. You will find some places that were already featured in other Sonic games such as "Metal City," "Splash Canyon," or "Babylon Garden." Unlike traditional games that typically feature cars or other similar vehicles, Sonic and friends here are using hoverboards. The game features sixteen different tracks that you will have to master. "Sonic Riders" is one of the most exciting titles among the Sonic games available for the GameCube.

You can also find all the characters you are familiar with, including Eggman, Tails, Knuckles, Cream the Rabbit, and Amy Rose. This GameCube title can plunge you into the universe of the blue hedgehog. Racing games may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Sonic, but this game may have truly stood the test of time.
